Prince

I went to the last sold out Prince concert in Oakland lastnight and it was amazing!

These photo's are courtesy of Clark Russell. Thank You Clark!

Prince is such a talented artist, how many musicians do you know that can play multiple instruments and make it look cool!

This picture was taken when Prince was doing a medley of all the songs he helped write back in the day. He turned around and saw me dancing to Nasty Girl by Vanity 6, he smiled, pointed at me and was like, "oh know you didn't" .

Now trust me when I say I got a front ticket! We were literally 5ft away from the Purple piano. During one of his piano ballets I screamed out, "you're amazing" !!

This man can play the guitar like no other and sing too! His harmonies and melodies are one of a kind!

As I'm posting these, all I can say is wow. I can't believe I was there. *smiles* A friend asked me how I scored front row tickets? I walked up the box office window and asked for the best seat in the house. I paid 250$ for my ticket. Well worth it, way way way way worth it.

Everybody in the building owes me a thank you because when Prince and Sheila.E were going to leave the stage, they looked at our section for an encore demand and ya'll know I wasn't acting too good so I started jumping up and down screaming, "c'mon, c'mon...give us more" !!!

A great silhouette of Prince. Absolutely fabulous!

OMG. Prince is the only man ever to make me cry at a concert. Serious. I was just about to lose it when Prince started to sing, "Nothing Compares to You" . And I had to keep telling myself, "hold it together bitch, hold it together" .

The song I was really waiting for was "Nicki" , and he gave us a taste of that in his piano medley.

Prince is a hard man to catch, he doesn't announce his shows but when he does, get your tickets fast!

It was a pleasure to see this legend perform live!

Prince really is one sexy motherfucka !!

Snow in San Francisco?

That's what the weather guy said. The last time snow fell in the Bay Area was 33 years ago. I was exactly 3 years old and probably living somewhere on Taylor St in SF back then.

In the 5th grade I remember this white fluffy stuff coming down from the sky but it wasn't snow. I think it was due to the chemical plant nearby causing a change in the ozone.

Speaking of growing up in an environmental disasters.

In college, we listened to this Navajo girl talk about how she use to play in the canyon with her cousins and they use to put this orange clay in their hair and as it turns out, it wasn't orange clay at all, it was uranium clay from the uranium mine in that area.

That's kind've scary.

Take care of the Earth people!

WTF ???

I can't stand this cover of Beyonce's, "Single Ladies" by Pomplamoose for several reasons.

For once, I can't take this song seriously because it's comes off as a parody.

Secondly, with lyrics like, "don't make me sing this part of the song, the lyrics are so bad so we're going to skip a head" . Bitch, if you don't like singing this song then maybe your punk ass shouldn't be singing it in the first place.

Thirdly, I just read an article in SF Weekly about how this duo rose to fame. They knew they needed to cover big songs to make a name for themselves. Whatever, other groups have done that and are still doing it but the difference is those other groups aren't bashing those artists lyrics while doing it.

It's probably a good thing they're covering other people's songs otherwise I'd probably wouldn't of known who they are if they hadn't.

Suck it Pomplamoose.

Ask a Stage Mom

Today's blog is courtesy of Carlease Burke, a comedian/actress friend of mine whose been in show business for a long time and knows the in & out's of Hollywood. I'm planning on moving to L.A. soon and asked for her from advice, here's what she said:

--------------------------------------------------------

Hey Carlease,
I'm planning on moving down to L.A. soon and I could use some help looking for commercial or tv/film extra work.
My goal is to live in L.A without working in a coffee house or being a substitute teacher.

Thanks Carlease, any leads would help!
xoxo
Charlie

--------------------------------------------------------
Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your question. I hope you don’t mind if I use it for my ezine this month.

Here’s my answer:

What’s wrong with working in a coffee house? I have had a successful comedy show at Hot Java for four years now. I know what you mean though, you probably don’t want to be a barista right? And you certainly don’t want to be a substitute teacher. Been there, done that, hated it!! But if that should become a part of your journey, then go with it. Sometimes in the beginning of our show business careers, especially if we’ve relocated, we do what we have to do to pay the bills. At the same time, I do believe we can have whatever life we choose for ourselves.

So, I know what you don’t want to do, but what is your ultimate goal? You need to be clear on that. As far as extra work is concerned I would start with a company called Central Casting. There are many others that I am not familiar with, but believe me, when you start working as an extra you will be surrounded by plenty of other background players who will gladly show you the ropes. One day on the set keeping your eyes and ears open, you will go home with a wealth of information on where to find more work. Some actors earn a living and receive full health benefits from doing extra work. It’s also a great place to learn the behind the camera world of this industry. You may even be attracted to one of those jobs.

Again, I don’t know what your goals are, but if you want your own show or wish to act in film and TV, then I would show up, blend in and pay attention. Do not bother the stars and don’t try to be one. If you don’t want to be recognized as a professional extra, just mingle with the crowd, get your paycheck and go home. Unless of course the director asks you to do a special bit or even give you lines! It can happen. Many background players get their SAG cards from doing this work. Once you get that it would be time to look for an agent so you can start auditioning for speaking roles if that’s what you want. Who knows you might get a starring role working in a coffee house or being a substitute teacher!

Exhale

Not gonna lie people, my life has been a little topsy turvy lately which means I don't have as much time to blog like I use to.

Which is fine by me.

What do I have a brewing right now?

For now, I gotta work on paying my credit card off and then start saving up for a car. I should have a car by now but like with the cellphone, I just kept putting it on the backburner and now it's time to aquire those things.

Which probably means I'll end up having to buy a own laptop soon.

I could probably go without some of these things if I didn't live in this century so I have to stay current.

Other than that, I'm trying to stay positive and keep going.

Lastnight I almost had another anxiety attack but I think I figured out to stop having them.

I just told myself to stop worrying about every little thing and everything will be alright. And wouldn't you know it, I fell right to sleep.

All it took was one deep breath and it seemed like all that bullshit went away with one exhale.

Week 7

Today's Weigh in: 259

I didn't gain any weight this week. I'm completely alright with that considering the stress I've had to deal with this week. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon.

And, I didn't do any of my excercise activities this week.

I got another heavy work week coming up. Usually after a long day at work I'll head over to Mcdonald's for the 99 cents menu.

I'm going to try real hard to not to indulge.

Cali Swag District

Hey world,
this is one of my favorite club songs out right now.

When you grow up as an American teenage, we're blessed with really good music makers which spawn really cool dances. This song really makes me miss doing the Cabbage Patch and Rodger Rabbit dances when I was kid from the 80's.

In every generation, it seems the coolest kids come up with these crazy dances that reflect the times.

The Cabbage Patch was based on the Cabbage Patch doll and the Rodger Rabbit was based on the cartoon from the movie.

So these young rap guys are talking about, "Teach me how to Dougie" , your guess is as good as mine.

Change

Change is definitely in the works for me very soon.

What kind've changes you might be asking yourselves, definitely a change in scenery, people, and a definitely a change in job. And mostly importantly a change in attitude.

I know in the coming months the transition will be hard but it will happen, it's just a matter of time.

The only thing I have working against me right now is time and money.

I still owe a crapload of money on my credit card, which I am paying off very fast, and I still don't have wheels.

And there's my dental bill and paying my DVD guy.

I am so crunched for dinero's it's not even funny.

A quick windfall in money would sure help me out right about now. I finally learned what not to be spending my money on. Now it's time to start doing for myself what I should've been doing myself all along.

Being I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T.

Know what I mean??

Starr Andrews

Wow, this little ice skating ballerina is super duper cute! I think America just found our next Debbie Thomas!

Week 6

Saturday's Weigh in: 259

I'm up 1 lb. Oh shit. and of course my weight would be up even though I still managed to get four runs in this past week.

This weight challenge is turning out to be a little tougher than I expected, especially when it comes to blogging it.

This blog was meant to be turned in a few days ago but I had such a heavy work load this past weekend it had to wait.

And then I found out my blog entries are off.

It's too early in the month for this to be happening.

No worries, I'm still striving hard to keep it together, regardless of my circumstances.

Charlie Ballard Live Synopsis

I just submitted my DVD to the San Francisco Int. Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, here's the synopsis.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"a local guy getting national attention" - SF WEEKLY

"Charlie Ballard Live" , is an independent stand up comedy film featuring the homegrown talent of Queer Native American stand up comedy performer Charlie Ballard.

Charlie started doing stand up comedy at the Brainwash Cafe in San Francisco in 2003 and hasn't looked back. In 2005, he was a semi-finalist for NBC's Stand Up for Diversity talent search in Chicago, Illinois. From there, Charlie made it on to LOGO, Comedy Central, and NBC's America's Got Talent. Since then he's become a favorite at college's, casino's and comedy clubs all over the country.

Charlie is easily recognizable by his Queer and Native American comedy niche. His first video clip on youtube, "Charlie Ballard: Being Gay and Native American" , managed to garner him acclaim all over the world. This was the springboard that thrusted him into the national spotlight.

He's also had write up's published in the Indian Country Newspaper, Campus Magazine, and the Advocate Magazine.

This comedy film is in ode to Richard Pryor's first live taping - "Still Smoking" , filmed live in front of an intimate crowd at the Dark Room Theater in San Francisco, California. He takes his audience threw a comedic romp on sex, dating, politics, and some good old fashioned non sense.

With the political climate in the United States making it hard for any Gay comedian to make it big in the mainstream, Charlie's decided to do it his own way, unabashed and unapologetic, and all while being hysterically funny.

More Savage Love

Here's another letter I wrote to syndicated sex columnist Dan Savage asking for advice.

www.thestranger.com/seattle/SavageLove

=======================================

Dear Dan,

I'm a middle aged gay man who hasn't been boned in a couple years. The main reason I stopped having sex is because I had an STD scare early in my 30's. After years of being a safe sex gay guy, one night I decided to let it go and let this guy fuck me in the ass without a condom. For once, I just wanted to enjoy a dick up my ass without a piece of plastic on it. Of course the next day I had to slap myself and say, "what the fuck I was thinking" ? A couple weeks later I tested negative for a plethora of diseases I could've contracted not mention the big one - HIV. And so this last experience pretty much soured me any sexual contact since then. I use to love getting sex any way I could with a condom, via one night stands, sex clubs, parks, bus stops, etc. And what's worse, I think not getting any sex lately has turned me into a super bitch. What do I need to do to get back on the saddle again?

Tired of Being Dried Up

Howard Stern

I've always liked Howard Stern. I was probably one of the few who his saw his movie when it came out all those years ago. Love you Howard! xoxo

Lady Gaga pictures

Hey ya'll, in my ever quest to get blog hits from the millions and millions of people online, I thought I'd try tapping into Lady Gaga's following.

So, if you're reading this, more than likely you googled Lady Gaga pictures and it led you here.

Is there any wonder why America has consistently put out the biggest pop stars in the world, who knows, maybe it's all the pepsi we drink.

Anyhoo, the latest rage in the world has been Lady Gaga. Her new album, "Born this Way" , is coming out next week and anyone's whose gay will be buying it.

Here are some photo's I pulled down from her Twitter page:

http://twitter.com/ladygaga

This one is cute but it's a little bit too Madonna-ish for me.

Is anyone surprised she's taking pictures of non-prescriptions drugs. Maybe she's trying to tell us she's cutting back on the crack?

I have to admit, I'm really starting to like her politics.

Maybe that's the secret to being a sex symbol, just give the people a little bit of booty.

Love the boots and the hair.

Lady Gaga still has a way to go before getting Madonna status but it looks like she's well on her way.

I doubt I'll be buying Lady Gaga's new album anytime soon, after all, look how long it took me to go to a Madonna concert.

Tipsy Tuesday

Holy shit I miss getting plastered on beer and hard liquor.

I really miss drinking to where it makes me want to drink again but not enough to where it makes me talk to people who I normally wouldn't talk to if I wasn't drinking.

For me, the booze creates an instant bonding experience with complete strangers. The flipside is after you sober up, you're like, "what, I said I wanted to convert to Islam because they know how to dance, huh" ? Exactly.

So that's me, stuck in the sad state of clarity and reason.

On a unrelated note, I almost had another anxiety moment in my sleep lastnight. It was like I couldn't catch my breath but I forced myself to take a full breath. It was a bitch trying to get myself back to sleep after that. When I closed my eyes I could see the gate to my dreams but in the back of my head I was worried that I was going to wake out've it with shortness of breath.

Like any good scientist, I've been taking notes or looking for the common denominators in my sleeping habits and I've noticed one pattern right away, in every instance there was a twinkie, ho ho snack or peanut butter/honey sandwich involved.

So that's what it is, I gotta stop this latenight binge eating before I go to sleep, it's kicking my ass.

Maybe it's all the peanut butter I'm eating, maybe there's peanut butter stuck to my lungs and it's not allowing me to breath.

I wonder what if there's a medical term for this, peanut butter-itis?

Who knows?

xoxo

CAROLE KING

Carole King sang and wrote some great songs, right now this one resonates with me the most!

Aretha Franklin

Right now I'm feeling a little uninpired. It feels nice this song is available to help me change my mood.
